Welcome to Kuebler Waldrip Haus Bed and Breakfast
Come relax on 43 peaceful acres just minutes from New Braunfels and Gruene in three beautifully restored historic buildings that include an original 1847 German rock pioneer home, an original 1863 Comal County one-room schoolhouse and our cottage. Here you are welcome to rent a room, a part or whole building OR the entire property. They have a property with an onsite host, 10 separate rooms, and each room rental includes a wonderful hot sit-down breakfast.
The KUEBLER WALDRIP HAUS, an original pioneer rock home has 19-inch-thick walls and has original cedar and cypress timber. The walls were originally covered with 4 layers of sheetrock, a layer of wallpaper, horizontal boards, and then the original adobe style plaster.

Learn about Texas Cattle Trails: Texas ranchers were sending their cattle back east before the Civil War, but the great cattle trails emerged after Gulf Coast ports were blockaded by the Union. In the 1860s, the great Texas cattle drives started because Texas had an over population of longhorn cattle and the rest of the country wanted beef. With such a long distance to cover with so many cattle, the cowboys had to perfect the trail routes and the techniques to increase their success. NEW BRAUNFELS TEXAS is #25th town on the Chisholm Trail and it played an important role during the historic Texas cattle drives up to Kansas.
“Pressing north past San Antonio, longhorns on the Chisholm Trail journeyed toward New Braunfels and Austin on a route that roughly parallels I-35 today. On both the Chisholm Trail and El Camino Real de los Tejas (the Spanish Royal Road) before that, the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels served as an important water stop and river crossing for weary travelers. The best views of the crossing are upstream from the Faust Street Bridge, built in 1887. When drovers began trailing cattle through New Braunfels in the 1860s, the German artisans provided just about anything they would need from reliable wagons to sturdy saddles. The Sophienburg Museum displays the storefronts and blacksmith tools of the cattle trail era.”

About the Recipe: Angel biscuits is a recipe at the Historic Kuebler Waldrip Haus Bed and Breakfast in New Braunfels Texas. This wonderful recipe was taken from a local New Braunfels recipe book, and it is now a very popular breakfast bread recipe. One of their guests made them at a party, when the host discovered that they were short on bread. At the end of the party, all the Angel Biscuits had disappeared, making the host very happy.

Recipe by: This delightful recipe is from a local St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cookbook. (p. 43) This biscuit recipe has been changed by the innkeepers of the Kuebler Waldrip Haus Bed and Breakfast from “Drop Dead Biscuits” to Angel Biscuits. Their guests rave about these little fluffy bits of heaven. Once they enter your mouth, they just fall apart. They are hot, fresh, and flaky.
To Serve:
Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.
Brush the rolls with a light layer of melted butter, if desired.
Serve hot with butter, jelly, honey, or gravy.
Yield: about 2-1/2 to 3 dozen mini biscuits
