We caught up with one of Kansas’s Barbecue Queens Judith Fertig, who is a well-known novelist and cookbook author. She grew up in the Midwest, went to cooking school in London and Paris, and now lives in the Kansas City area. She appeared in gourmet, fresh food, and popular family magazines, international publications, and many television programs including The Food Network. She gives talks across the country and is a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier, The Kansas City Barbeque Society, The Kansas City Novel Group, and IACP.

Steve Iannarone – BBQ Pitmaster
We would like to introduce you to someone who recently joined the barbecue scene and
will be sharing his experiences with you. Steve Iannarone, a senior Manager for Global
Shared Services, became involved with barbecue competitions about a year ago. After
taking some grilling classes and meeting other grilling enthusiasts, he started entering
competitions. He met Pitmaster Chris Marks, who taught Steve how to make the Texas
Style Beef Short Ribs at the 2016 American Royal. They prepared about 250 pound of
these, which landed both of them as a lead story on the local news channels. Steve
became very passionate about grilling BBQ and last year in Naperville, IL, he was a
