This weekend is only days that a tour of the Lodge Factory is allowed. The new foundry is highly automated and was built in 2017 . It is clean and a state of the art operation and increased Lodge’s capacity by 70%.
Automated Pouring is a critical part of making a high quality product, repeatedly.
Sand cooling is necessary to completely recycle the sand used in the molding process.
Cast iron cookware is shown cooling as they go down the production line.
The cookware also goes through a seasoning process before it is packaged in a retail shipping box.
A completed product ready to final sealing/palletizing and a trip to the Lodge warehouse.
As we were touring the manufacturing facility, we met enthusiastic Lodge employees who were proud of where they worked and how the company treated them. A number said this is the best job I have ever had and never want to leave. Many were taking their extended families through the facility to explain how it operated. We gained a new level of respect for Lodge, it’s contributions to the So. Pittsburg community and how it treated its employees.
