Farmers want to tell you about their farms and answer all your questions. Friends and neighbors chat and wave. The farmers’ market offers a remarkably rich and inviting opportunity to purchase the freshest and tastiest fruits and vegetables direct from the farm or orchard, typically harvested that morning.
Open for business on a Wednesday afternoon. A number of small farmers from around the area are here to sell their produce.
Sweet corn was available at one stall at the West Lafayette Farmer’s market.

Trinity Acres Farm – Indiana
We met up with David Schamber, a farmer from Trinity Acres Farm, whose booth was covered with an array of the freshest, most colorful summer vegetables. He shared that tomato season was in full force! The fresh heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and 10-pound boxes were available and he’s sure that will keep the canners’ busy. We asked him to tell us a little more about his farm.

Dan Voglund – Bee Keeper Indiana
Knowing that a pure honey is hard to find, golden honey bottles attracted my attention. We walked over to Dan Voglund from Voglund Apiary’s booth, where all sizes of sweet honey bottles were gathered along with some lavender honey cream. Beekeeper Dan told us about his colorful rainbow beehives and why his honey so flavorful. He smiled and shared his secret, “Honey from Happy Bees.”

Carrie Austin – Austin Acres – Indiana
We couldn’t leave the Market that day without a small box of multi-colored mini tomatoes. I could hardly wait to go home and taste the chocolate tomato variety. Carrie Austin, a farmer from Austin Acre, said that she got up at 5:30 in the morning just to pick the freshest produce to bring to the Market that day. Her warm smile made us feel like old friends as she told us a little more about her family farm.
